Lens in the eye focuses light on the retina. Opacities of the lens are
called cataract. Cataract may be present at birth or occur due to injury but the most common
cause is related to age (Senile Cataract) and is the reason for visual disability among the aged
population.

- Treatment includes prescription medicines, Laser, Injection, surgery depending on severity of the disease.
GLAUCOMA
- Disease causes damage to the Optic Nerve.
- Early stage – Patchy side vision
- Advanced stage – Blurred central vision
- Treatment – Prescription Eye drops, laser treatment, surgery
- Regular field testing of eye pressure for glaucoma after age 50 necessary
REFRACTIVE ERRORS
- Astigmatism – Blurred close and distant objects
- Farsightedness – Close objects seem out of focus
- Nearsightedness – Distant objects seem out of focus
- Presbyopia – Close objects seem out of focus due to age
- Common symptoms – Unclear vision, Headaches, Eyestrain, Squinting
